The seasonal highlight is the annual Christmas Concert, which is scheduled for December 8 at 3 PM! There’s plenty of room in each section of the choir! Consider joining the choir this season!
Women's Ensemble
Women’s Ensemble will begin rehearsing on Wednesday mornings at 10 AM starting September 3. Women’s Ensemble participates in Sunday morning worship services and the Christmas Concert. Ladies interested in singing ~ a love of singing praises to the Lord is all that is necessary.
Instrumental Groups
Our Savior Ringers
Our Savior Ringers (Adult Handbell Choir) will begin rehearsing on Monday, September 8, from 7- 8 PM in the sanctuary. There are several positions available (both large and small bells!) for anyone interested in learning to ring praises to God. We love to teach new members the joy of ringing the bells. Please feel free to talk to a current Handbell member if you have questions about the bells.
Middle School Handbells
Middle School handbell ensembles meet during school hours. Days and times change per academic year. Ensembles participate in chapels, the school Advent service, and at the end of the year school music concert.
Brass and Percussion
The Brass Ensemble rehearses on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings depending on work schedules. The Brass Ensemble participates in Festival Services, (Reformation, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Pentecost) and concerts (Christmas and Spring Fling). If you play a brass instrument and/or timpani and would like to offer your praises to God with special instrumental music sign up using the form below.
Worship Music
Vocal & Instrumental Worship Leaders
Cantors are an integral part of many worship services at Our Savior. Cantors assist with portions of the liturgy and help lead and teach congregational songs. Instrumentalists assist in leading hymns and songs in addition to offering selections of special music. Instrumentalists have included acoustic guitars, bass, piano, flute, violin, and cello. Contact the music office for more information or if interested in assisting with vocal and instrumental worship leadership.
Worship Band
Our 11:15 AM service is led by Mrs. Amanda Parks on piano, along with volunteer singers and instrumentalists (guitar and percussion to date). If you have an interest in singing or joining with our other instrumentalists, let Mrs. Parks know.
Organ
The Martin Ott Pipe Organ Company in St. Louis, Missouri, was commissioned in 1983 by Grace Lutheran Church in Aurora, Illinois, to build a mechanical action organ. Martin Ott, a German organ builder, designed Opus 30 to support and lead the congregation in their worship. This downtown Chicago church re-formed itself as Parroquia Luterana San Francisco de Asis, and the organ was no longer needed for their contemporary worship service style. Consequently, they offered the organ for sale.
Our Savior Lutheran discovered the organ's availability. It was purchased in June of 2003 and was brought to Livermore. A year later, when the new sanctuary was completed, Opus 30, was reassembled in its current home. The playing action of the organ is completely mechanical; the instrument uses levers and trackers to control the sound of the pipes. Opus 30 has 966 pipes, set in 20 ranks and controlled by 17 stops, principally designed for the Lutheran liturgy, congregational singing, and choral accompaniment.
