Drug Abuse Resistance Education is a police officer led series of classroom lessons that teach students how to resist peer pressure to help them ultimately lead productive, drug-free and violence-free lives. The D.A.R.E. program is currently taught to all OSLS 5 th grade students by Livermore Officer Rich Zogaric. The curriculum includes up-to-date and accurate information about drug and alcohol, but also includes teaching them skills of how to say “No” with discussions about alternatives to drug use, role playing in age-related scenarios, and reviewing decision making skills and consequences of personal choices. At the completion of the program, students are rewarded with a certificate of completion for their hard work.
