D.A.R.E. to keep kids off drugs.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education is a police officer led series of classroom lessons that teach students how to resist peer pressure to help them ultimately lead productive, drug-free and violence-free lives. The D.A.R.E. program is currently taught to all OSLS 5 th grade students by Livermore Officer Rich Zogaric. The curriculum includes up-to-date and accurate information about drug and alcohol, but also includes teaching them skills of how to say “No” with discussions about alternatives to drug use, role playing in age-related scenarios, and reviewing decision making skills and consequences of personal choices. At the completion of the program, students are rewarded with a certificate of completion for their hard work. Another benefit is the establishment of trusting relationship with police officers who also serve at the local high schools they may one day attend.
