Special Events Calendar

OSLM Special Events Calendars were handed out to you this morning as you entered church.  Please keep it in a handy place and use it as a reminder of our upcoming events and as an opportunity to invite friends and neighbors to attend with you.  If you would like more to share with others, please feel free to take a few extra.

After the 9 a.m. service today, we are having a reception to thank Dee Christopher for her long and faithful service as our Director of Family Ministries.  A basket will be available in which to put your cards, good wishes and remembrances.

The congregation is invited at 10:45 a.m. today, after the reception for Dee, for conversation with Pastor Denninger.  This time should serve us well as a time to get to know the Denningers and for them to learn to know us a little better.  There will be no Sunday school or adult classes.

You may have noticed . . .

We have given new names to our Jr. High and Sr. High Ministries.  When you see…

CONNECT Student Ministries, it means High School age students.

CRASH Jr. High Ministries means Jr. High age students.

Communion Bread:  It is time to sign up to bake communion bread.  Bakers are assigned  3 weeks sometime during the year to bake.  Full instructions are provided.  For questions and sign-up (new and returning bakers) contact Rita Ryno at 449-5135 or 447-1246, ext. 224.

3rd / 4th grade class.  Please prayerfully consider whether you could serve in this way.  Call our Sunday School Superintendents, Jill and Rob Santos.

Time for the Men’s Retreat! – at Redwood Christian Park  in the Santa Cruz Mountains on the weekend of September 16-18.

This year’s theme is “The Ministry of Encouragement,” based on Hebrews 10:23-25.  Our main speaker is Pete Feigal, a Lutheran brother from Minnesota, who is a walking miracle of God’s sustaining power.  He has battled MS for 17 years as well as clinical depression.  He will share his story with us of how God and            fellow Christians have been a vital force of support in his life.  You will be inspired!

Cost is $135 for “cabin” accommodations. This includes five meals and all related program costs

There will also be an optional Golf Tournament held on Friday morning if you would like to participate.                                                                  Golfing cost is $65 and we can even make up our own foursomes from Our Savior.

To sign up, please pick up a registration form from the church office, the table on Sunday morning, or see Steve Christopher.  Questions?  Give Steve a call in the church office.

OKTOBERFEST

The annual Oktoberfest Golf Tournament and Dinner are on October 9.  You don’t need to golf to enjoy the dinner.  Sign up in the gym during coffee hour, in the Youth Room during the week, or online at www.oslm.net/oktoberfest for golf, dinner, or both.  Come out and support our high school youth’s mission    trip to New Mexico!!

Enchanted Mountains Workcamp

CONNECT Student Ministries is heading to Cuba, New Mexico, in July 2006.  Cuba is a town near Los Alamos where 44% of the families have an income at or below the poverty level and their children carry a special backpack “lunchbox” to school to bring food home to their families.  Every student currently in high school can attend this trip.  Those who have recently graduated may also go.  Anyone attending the trip must participate in fundraising to bring the overall cost down.

When:  July 15-23, 2006

Who:  Students in High School or those recently graduated

Why:  Our Goal is to Serve God by Serving Others

Cost:  $600 – but all students will work to bring this cost down through fundraising.

Deadline to sign-up is September 16th!!!

Marriage Encounter Weekend is intended for couples with good marriages.  It provides the opportunity to look at your relationship in an atmosphere of privacy and gives you a chance to give thanks for the gift of your spouse, something that most of us don’t take the time to do often enough. The next Lutheran Marriage Encounter weekend will be October 21-23 in Pleasanton.  For information call Greg & Debbie Duncan, 707-

447-6353 or visit www.ilme.org.

Start your holiday shopping early at the Craft Boutique on November 12 at Our Savior. The time is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  If you would like to reserve a table, registration forms are available in the Church office.
