VISITOR PARKING

Let’s make our visitors feel welcome.  There are four spaces for visitors to our church to use on Sunday mornings.  They are located in the parking lot by the offices.  There is additional parking in the ball field lot next door or in the area behind the gym.

The FLOWER CHART for 2006 is in the church office.  Practically all of the Sundays for the rest of the year are available for flower donations.  If you would like to donate altar flowers to celebrate an occasion, to honor someone, or in memory of a loved one, please come to the office or give us a call at 447-1246, ext. 230.

CALLING VOLUNTEERS!

We are looking for help for Summer Sunday School.  We need a Preschool Teacher (children ages 3-5) and volunteers to present a 20 minute lesson (curriculum provided) to a group of 5-15 older children (ages 6-12).  You can volunteer for one or more weeks!  Summer Sunday School will start June 18 and end August 20.  Please prayerfully consider this need as you make your summer plans.  Contact Jill Santos at 373-3349 if you are able to help.  Thank you!

Bill Guntrum wishes to thank everyone for their cards, phone calls, letters, and prayers during his recent hospitalization.

It’s time for a little musical fun!  Come enjoy an hour of light music at the SPRING FLING on Sunday, May 21.  4:00 p.m. is the time and the Sanctuary is the place.  You will be treated to a handbell showdown, Broadway for brass and music by our Youth Ensemble, Women’s Ensemble and Our Savior Choir.  Some “yummy eats” will follow in the gym.

Many thanks for all of the prayers, cards, and support during my dad’s illness and at the time of his death.  Your Christian care and love is much appreciated!

                   Christa & Bill Even

As you are prayerfully considering your BUILDING UP – REACHING OUT commitment, please consider using the Simply Giving® program for your contributions.

Through the Simply Giving® program, your gifts are made through a pre-authorized withdrawal from your bank account.  You determine the frequency of your automatic gift – weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly – the option is yours.  Your gift is deposited into the OSLM bank account on the same day it is withdrawn from your account.

The Simply Giving® program is a reliable, safe way to move your stewardship plan into action.  It allows you to share your gifts through planned giving and activates your generosity into ongoing stewardship.  Because your gift is given consistently, you won’t need to play “catch-up” at year-end or worry about forgotten checkbooks or missed Sunday offerings.  But you’re not the only one that benefits.  Our congregation benefits from steady, more predictable revenues throughout the year, more efficient bookkeeping, and greater confidence in meeting our financial commitments.

Please see Joe Ryno for Enrollment Forms or any questions that you might have.

NEWS FROM OUR SCHOOL

CHAPEL We invite all members to join us for our weekly chapel worship on Thursdays beginning around 8:40 a.m.  Our overall chapel theme is

 “Come!  Grow with us.”

THE CHRISTIAN READING CLUB meets on Tuesday, May 16, at 7 p.m. in Room 8.  All interested readers are invited to attend.  The book discussion will be “God’s Story” Finding Meaning for Your Life through Knowing God, by Anne Graham Lotz.  ISBN 0-8499-3758-2.

CRASH JR. HIGH MINISTRY EVENT

Meet in the gym, then we will go out to the field on Friday, May 26, from 7 - 9 p.m. for SLOP NIGHT.  Ever wonder what it would be like to have honey between your toes?  Or be covered from head to toe in yogurt?  How about wrestling in a pool of mashed potatoes?  Join us to find out.  Wear old clothes, bring a friend, and get ready to have a massive food fight!

As we continue with the BUILDING UP – REACHING OUT campaign and with the stock market up this year, it may be an advantage to a church member to donate stock that has appreciated in value to the church rather than cash.  You will be able to claim a charitable deduction in the amount of the current value of the donated stock.  You will also avoid paying taxes on the appreciated value of the donated stock.  Furthermore, the church pays no capital gains tax when it sells the stock.

Yes, the victims of Katrina still need our help.  There is still so much to be done.  Stop by the table at the coffee hour this morning and see Jan Pfeifer to donate $1 and you will get a special yellow and purple “wristband” with the imprint Reaching Out in Love – Hurricane Relief.  All proceeds go to support our Lutheran Schools on the Gulf Coast affected by the hurricanes.
