Let’s fill the sanctuary at 6 p.m. tonight for the ALL-CHURCH BIBLE STUDY.   Pastor Brewer will be leading us as we begin our “Building Up, Reaching Out” campaign by looking at what the Word of God has to say to us about stewardship.

Everyone is also invited to the POTLUCK DINNER, preceding the Bible study, at 5 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.  Please bring a main dish and either a salad (last name starting with A-K) or a dessert (L-Z).  Childcare will be provided during the Bible study; if you haven’t already signed up for it, please call Dave Dannenberg.

NEW PASTOR’S CLASS

A new session of “Pastor’s Class,” taught by Interim Pastor Richard Brewer, meets during the education hour from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in Room 18.  If you are considering joining our spiritual family here at Our Savior and want to find out more about Lutheran teachings, this is a helpful class.  This class concludes on May 21, with the welcoming of new members at the 9 a.m. service with a reception at 10:30 a.m. in the gym.

The NOMINATING COMMITTEE is considering candidates for election to the Lay Governing Board.  If you know of someone who would make a good LGB member, please give that person’s name in writing to Norm Back, Marilyn Janzen, Ann Brand, or John Phillips.  Please note that there are a number of specific qualifications given in our By-Laws for LGB members; the most relevant are that the candidate must regularly participate in the worship and educational life of the congregation, and that he/she must not be on the payroll of OSLM.  The committee will consider every name that is submitted to it, but there is no guarantee that any given person will make it onto the final slate that is submitted to the voters.

WILLING HANDS tomorrow from 9 a.m. until noon.  Anyone is welcome who has some time available and would like to help with keeping our facility clean and neat.  We greatly appreciate your help.

Our Savior Lutheran School’s FAMILY FUN NIGHT for March will take place at Red Robin, 4503 Rosewood Drive in Pleasanton, on Tuesday, March 21, from 5 – 10 p.m.  Red Robin will donate 15% of the proceeds back to our school!  Be sure to take a flier with you to the restaurant.  Fliers are available on the triangular table at the back of the church, in the school office, or on our website, www.oslm.net.

TRUE TEEN LIFE   An interactive seminar for parents trying to understand their teen’s online life.  March 27, 6 – 8 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Ministries.   Cost:  free.  Call 925.447-1246, ext. 259, to reserve your spot.

Join us as we go “online” to explore the realities of what teenagers are looking at and who they are learning from on the internet.  This 2 hour seminar will give you the tools as a parent to be a crucial part of your child’s life in this technological world.

ATTENTION ALL CONNECT MISSION TRIP PARTICIPANTS AND PARENTS!

There will be a Parent / Student Mission Trip Meeting on Thursday, March 30, from 7-9 p.m.  We will be passing out information and various forms.  Mark it on your calendar and plan on at least one parent attending this meeting!

NEWS FROM OUR SCHOOL

Chapel Worship on Thursday mornings at 8:40 a.m.  You are invited!

School Chapel Offerings

The African display, which was on loan from the Mission Board in St. Louis, is gone but our offerings for Africa continue until the end of the school year.  The students at OSLS have collected $865.50 in the 3rd quarter, so far.  LCMS World Mission seeks to send people who have a love for the Lord.  God uses lawyers, medical personnel, computer technicians, musicians, students, farmers, builders, and retirees in addition to professional teachers, pastors, and experts in the Bible.  God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.  ABLAZE! is a vision of the LCMS World Mission to reach 100 million new people with the message of Christ’s love by the year 2017.  Your children, by responding and participating, will be part of a mission journey that can last into early adulthood and beyond.  May the Holy Spirit empower you and your children to spread the Gospel uncontrollably!

THE CHRISTIAN READING CLUB meets on Tuesday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in Room 8.  All interested readers are invited to attend.  The book discussion will be on “The Present Future,” Six Tough Questions for the Church, by Reggie McNeal ISBN 0-7879-6568-5.  At most bookstores, Amazon.com  and at www.josseybass.com.

July 31, through Thursday,

August 3, from 6:00--8:30 p.m.

We are looking for youth (6th grade and up) and adults to help in all areas including teaching, music, skits, crafts, games, meal preparation, registration and publicity!

Sign up to volunteer for VBS 2006 in the gym during coffee hour or online at www.oslm.net.

Covering for Life’s Little Emergencies

If you own a home or a car you’ll eventually have an emergency repair staring you in the face.  Covering for life’s little financial emergencies should not be stressful and worrisome – especially if you have a savings account that you can tap into to cover unexpected expenses.  Avoid relying on credit for unexpected expenses by saving a percentage of income each month. Many professionals suggest putting aside 10 percent before anything else comes out of the paycheck.  If you can’t leave it untouched in your general checking account, set up an “emergency” account just for this purpose. Saving takes discipline, but if disaster strikes, as it will, you won’t have to finance it at a high cost.

Copies of our school newsletter, THE MANE EVENTS, are available in the back of the sanctuary on the triangular shelf.

Q.  Where did Aaron get the gold to make the golden calf?

a)  He collected gold earrings

from the wives, daughters and sons.

b)  He melted down gold candlesticks used in special ceremonies.

c)  He really didn’t make it out of gold, but made it out of gray duct tape.

d)  He found a special gold mine and got it there.

               A.  Check out Exodus 32:2

New members have joined our church since last autumn.  A list of their names, addresses and phone numbers is located on the triangular shelf in the back of the sanctuary if you would like to pick one up for your 2005 Directory.  Also included are change of address, etc., for those already listed in the DIRECTORY.  Updated on March 6.
