In processing the offering envelopes recently, I have noticed that there might be some confusion as to the difference between the Building Fund line and the Ministry Center line.  I have also noticed that some of you who normally were contributing to the Brick By Brick program have started putting that contribution on the Ministry Center line and vice versa.

The Building Fund is the continuation of the Brick By Brick pledge program for the sanctuary which ends January 31, 2007.  The Ministry Center line is for those of us who have already made a pledge to the Ministry Center which ends February 28, 2007, or will be making a pledge in the future or for those of you who are making a non-pledged contribution.

Your contributions have been processed according to what was indicated on the envelope so please contact Joe Ryno if you want this data corrected.

SERVANT AUCTION  Do you have an overgrown lawn?  Or is it time to leave the kids with a babysitter and go on a date night?  Today during coffee hour, the students attending the mission trip to Cuba, New Mexico, in July will be auctioning off various services to the congregation.  We invite you to participate in this Silent Servant Auction through 10:30 a.m. Sun., March 5.

Our goal through this fundraiser is to raise $3,000 which is about $100 per person going on the trip.  Come out and support the youth on February 19!

Thrivent has agreed to match the funds that we raise – up to $1600.00!

THE CHRISTIAN READING CLUB meets on Tuesday, February 21, at 7 p.m. in Room 8.  All interested readers are invited to attend.  The book discussion will be on “The Four Loves,” a classic by C. S. Lewis.   ISBN 0-15-632930-1; www.amazon.com.

THE SEVEN SOLUTIONS FOR PREVENTING BURN-OUT IN PARENTS class is now being offered again on Thursday evenings in the ECDC for those who were unable to attend the recent Sunday morning class.  The class meets in the ECDC “big room” from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

NEW PASTOR’S CLASS

A new session of “Pastor’s Class” taught by Interim Pastor, Richard Brewer, will begin on Sunday, March 5, and will meet during the education hour from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in Room 18.  If you are considering joining our spiritual family here at Our Savior and want to find out more about Lutheran teachings, this will be a helpful class.  This class will continue through the next few months, concluding on May 21, with the welcoming of new members at the 9 a.m. service with a reception at 10:30 a.m. in the gym.

Use this class as a chance to reach out to those who aren’t connected with the church and invite them to attend.

For more information, contact Glenna Sanlis or Pastor Brewer in the church office.

Our CONNECT STUDENT MINISTRIES is starting a new Sunday School model on March 5 called CONNECTIONS.  We need volunteers to help with set-up and take-down of various stage equipment every Sunday.  A training session will be on Feb. 26 after Sunday School in the gym.  This is a once a month flexible commitment!  Email brett@osyouth.com or call Brett at 447-1246, ext. 261, to sign up to help!

What is CONNECTIONS?  This high-energy, interactive, and small-group based Sunday School model will feature a worship band, a talk by an adult leader, occasional testimonies, small group time, and lots of chances to learn about God in a little different way.  The small groups will meet for the second half of the morning and will be age-based…meaning Jr. High will be with Jr. High and Sr. High with Sr. High.  If you have questions about this ministry, talk to Brett or email him at brett@osyouth.com.

ATTENTION ALL CONNECT MISSION TRIP PARTICIPANTS AND PARENTS!

Your next payment of $200 is due to Brett no later than Friday, March 10.  The final payment will be due in mid-May and will be based on how much money is raised through the Servant Auction.

Finally, there will be a Parent / Student Mission Trip Meeting on Thursday, March 30, from 7-9 p.m.  We will be passing out information and various forms.  Mark it on your calendar and plan on at least one parent attending this meeting!

…to the Women’s Retreat Committee for doing such a great job!  from the Participants

OPEN HEART KITCHEN NEEDS YOUR HELP!  Open Heart Kitchen has a serious shortage of volunteers.  Please call Open Heart Kitchen (580-1616) to volunteer for a regular shift each month or to just be a backup worker when someone else gets sick.  OHK needs both adult and teen volunteers.  Volunteers prepare and serve meals for the low income and senior residents in the Valley.  The usual adult shift is three to four and a half hours long, and the usual teen shift is three hours.  Adult volunteers are needed in Livermore on Turesdays and Wednesdays at Asbury Methodist Church and on Thursdays at 460 North Livermore Avenue and in Pleasanton each weekday at Ridgeview Commons.  Teen volunteers are needed at North Livermore Avenue on Thursdays and each weekday at Ridgeview Commons.  Please call today!

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT HURRICANE RELIEF!  Yes, the victims of Katrina still need our help.  There is still so much to be done.  Stop by the table at the coffee hour this morning and see Jan Pfeifer to donate $1 and you will get a special yellow and purple “wristband” with the imprint Reaching Out in Love – Hurricane Relief.  All proceeds go to support our Lutheran Schools on the Gulf Coast affected by the hurricanes.

A LETTER RECEIVED FROM HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH IN LIVERMORE:

Thank you for your help in Holy Cross Lutheran Church’s fundraising effort on behalf of the family made homeless just before Christmas.  With the help of the people at Our Savior, we were able to raise $2263.  That, plus the $1655 matching funds from Thrivent Financial provided enough money for the family to get out of the shelter and rent a home.  Livermore is truly a giving, caring community.  The family was certainly touched by the compassion of so many people.  Thank you.  Signed by Dolores Olness, Community Caregiving Committee Chair

New members have joined our church since last autumn.  A list of their names, addresses and phone numbers is located on the triangular shelf in the back of the sanctuary if you would like to pick one up for your 2005 Directory.  Also included are change of address, etc., for those already listed in the DIRECTORY.  Updated on Feb. 13.

Check out Our Savior newsletter, THE VINEYARD, online at www.oslm.net.
