NEWS FROM OUR SCHOOL

We always invite you to our chapel worship on Thursday mornings at 8:40 a.m..

Talent Fair is this weekend.  Students in grades 6-8 had the opportunity to complete a project from one of four subject areas – art, history, literature or science.  These projects were judged yesterday.  They are on display this morning in the gym where you can examine them with your morning coffee.  On Monday, students from grades K-5 will have the opportunity to view the projects.

EXTREME MAKEOVER

Here’s your chance to get involved in changing someone’s life.  Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are teaming up for a long-term partnership to reduce housing poverty.  On February 18 at 9 a.m. in the Fremont Thrivent Office, Greg Foulke, the Thrivent/Habitat coordinator, will be presenting area projects and taking suggestions from you about future projects.  All are welcome to attend.  More information about this endeavor can be found at www.thriventbuilds.com.  Questions?  Contact Lois Herbel at 510-490-5397 or caksgrl@sbcglobal.net.

SERVANT AUCTION  Do you have an overgrown lawn?  Or is it time to leave the kids with a babysitter and go on a date night?  Beginning on February 19 during coffee hour, the students attending the mission trip to Cuba, New Mexico, in July will be auctioning off various services to the congregation.  We invite you to participate in this Silent Servant Auction through 10:30 a.m. Sun., March 5.

Our goal through this fundraiser is to raise $3,000 which is about $100 per person going on the trip.  Come out and support the youth on February 19!

Thrivent has agreed to match the funds that we raise – up to $1600.00!

GIFT CARD FUNDRAISER

SCRIP gift cards and certificates for many local merchants and restaurants are sold by parent volunteers on Thursday afternoons at 3 p.m. in front of the school office and by church volunteers on Sunday mornings during coffee time.  You can also drop off your scrip order and check at the business office anytime during the week and a parent volunteer will fill your order for the next day pick-up!  PTO profits earned for SCRIP and escrip for the last quarter were $1,069.60 and our Building Fund received $849.87!  Help us make these numbers grow!  Safeway gift cards now available in $25 and $100 denominations.  Use Scrip every time you shop!

Following is an excerpt from a letter received from Mt. Cross thanking OSLM for our financial support in 2005.

“We wish to thank you for believing in the power of outdoor ministry at Mt. Cross.  For believing that a place where youth and families can come to be in the midst of God’s creation and have life changing – faith building experiences is important.  On behalf of the constituency of Mt. Cross Ministries – God’s Blessings.”
