WILLING HANDS tomorrow from 9 a.m. until noon.  Anyone who has some time available and would like to help with keeping our facility clean and neat is welcome.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

KATRINA COMMITTEE is meeting this Tuesday, January 23, at 7 p.m. in Room 8.

There will be a STEWARDS’ MEETING next Sunday, January 28, at 11:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary.  This is one of the two regular meetings we have each year. The main items on the agenda for this meeting are: (1) choosing two members for this year’s Nominating Committee, (2) choosing a representative to Lutheran Care for the Aging, (3) nominating candidates for Synod President and Vice Presidents, (4) a status report on the Ministry Center, (5) a mid-year progress report on our 2006/07 Critical Targets, and (6) a summary of significant changes to our Policy Manual.  If you are a voting member of Our Savior, please plan to attend this important meeting.  Childcare will be provided.

Between now and the Stewards’ Meeting on January 28, be thinking about people you would like to see on the Nominating Committee and be prepared to nominate them at the meeting (preferably with their consent).  This is the committee that will put together the slate of candidates for election to the Lay Governing Board at the May Stewards’ Meeting.  Also, if you have some favorite candidates for Synod President and Vice Presidents, bring their names to the meeting.  We, as a congregation, have the right to nominate up to two clergymen each for President and First Vice-President, and up to four for the other four Vice-Presidential offices.

Women's Monthly Social Gathering January 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Just a reminder that the 4th Sunday of the month is our Women's social gathering with the consistent theme of "Catch-All Night". This gathering provides an opportunity for women to gather socially while accomplishing tasks along the way. You might feel like us and want the opportunity to get to know other women in the congregation but have no spare time to do it. This forum allows you to bring something to work on like a craft, mending, pay bills, or whatever you need to accomplish, while you connect with other women. We've found it to be a real blessing and hope you will join us. This will be the only chance for two months since we will not meet during the month of February because the Women's Retreat falls on that weekend (don't forget to sign up for the Women's Retreat -- that's lots of fun, too). Go girl power!  If you need child care contact us in advance so we can arrange for it. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to connect as sisters in Christ!  Bring a snack to share if you'd like (no pressure to bring one). Call us if you have any questions. Linda Futral, Rene Moyer, or Karen Buntjer.

CONCORDIA WIND ORCHESTRA,

Jeff Held, conductor.  Sunday, January 28, 6:00 p.m., at Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, 1111 Gough Street, San Francisco.  Free admission.  The Concordia University (Irvine) Wind Orchestra is joined by organ recitalist Richard Gehrke for a spectacular evening of music for organ, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.  The Epiphany-themed concert will feature a new commission, The Gift and the Wise Men (An Epiphany suite for wind ensemble and pipe organ) by Brendan Anderson, along with music by Strauss, Sparke, Manz, Jager, Reger, and Reed.

CRAB FEED

Enjoy All-You-Can-Eat crab, Caesar salad, pasta, garlic bread, and dessert on Saturday, February 3, from 5 – 9 p.m. in the gym.  Tickets are available in the church office during the week and on Sundays in January during fellowship time.  The cost is $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 5 – 10, and children age 4 and under are free.  Everyone attending will need a ticket, even the children who get in free.  There are just over 100 tickets available now.

HOW WE ARE DOING!  by Joe Ryno

Since the inception of the Building Up – Reaching Out campaign which began July 1, 2006, we have received $227,000 which averages out to be almost $38,000 per month.  This is great news and I thank all of you who continue to support our ministry in this manner.

The Thrivent GivingPlus program which is ongoing to all Thrivent members will generate $28,000 for the benefit of the Ministry Center based on member donations of $58,000.  This is truly remarkable since we did not begin this effort until October of last year.

I encourage all of you who are not yet participating in either of these programs to get involved with this project to complete our Ministry Center, and for those of you who would like more information to please contact me in the ministry office.
