There will be a STEWARDS’ MEETING two weeks from today, January 28, at 11:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary.  This is one of the two regular meetings we have each year, and its main purpose is to bring us up to date on our progress toward meeting our 2006/07 Critical Targets.  We will also be choosing two members for this year’s Nominating Committee and a representative for Lutheran Care for the Aging, and we have the opportunity to nominate candidates for Synod President and Vice Presidents.  If you are a voting member of Our Savior, please plan to attend this important meeting.  Childcare will be provided.

Between now and the Stewards’ Meeting on January 28, be thinking about people you would like to see on the Nominating Committee and be prepared to nominate them at the meeting (preferably with their consent).  This is the committee that will put together the slate of candidates for election to the Lay Governing Board at the May Stewards’ Meeting.  Also, if you have some favorite candidates for Synod President and Vice Presidents, bring their names to the meeting.  We, as a congregation, have the right to nominate up to two clergymen each for President and First Vice-President, and up to four for the other four Vice-Presidential offices.

Come join THE CHRISTIAN READING CLUB.  It meets on Tuesday, January 16, at 7 p.m. in Room 8.  The book to be discussed will be “Facing Your Giants” by Max Lucado.

ISBN #0849901812.

Men of Our Savior – it will soon be time to gather again at the home of Mark McDonald.

Sunday, January 21, is the MEAT BOWL, when we watch the last round of the NFL Play-offs.  We’ll meet in the early afternoon (time to be determined later) for the two conference championship football games where the winners go to the Super Bowl.  There will be plenty of meat and some “team specific” dishes.

There will be things for the uninterested football fan, too.

It will be a time of fellowship and some planning for the Easter Breakfast.

Cost will be your free-will donation to help cover expenses.  RSVP to Steve Christopher in the church office at 447-1246, ext. 228, or email him at schristopher@oslm.net no later than Tuesday, January 16.

Women's Monthly Social Gathering January 28, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Just a reminder that the 4th Sunday of the month is our Women's social gathering with the consistent theme of "Catch-All Night". This gathering provides an opportunity for women to gather socially while accomplishing tasks along the way. You might feel like us and want the opportunity to get to know other women in the congregation but have no spare time to do it. This forum allows you to bring something to work on like a craft, mending, pay bills, or whatever you need to accomplish, while you connect with other women. We've found it to be a real blessing and hope you will join us. This will be the only chance for two months since we will not meet during the month of February since the Women's Retreat falls on that weekend (don't forget to sign up for the Women's Retreat -- that's lots of fun, too). Go girl power!  If you need child care contact us in advance so we can arrange for it. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to connect as sisters in Christ! Bring a snack to share if you'd like (no pressure to bring one). Call us if you have any questions. Linda Futral, Rene Moyer, Karen Buntjer.

CRAB FEED

Enjoy All-You-Can-Eat crab, Caesar salad, pasta, garlic bread, and dessert.

Saturday, February 3, from 5 – 9 p.m. in the gym.  Tickets are available in the church office during the week and on Sundays in January during fellowship time.  The cost is $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 5 – 10, and children age 4 and under are free.  Everyone attending will need a ticket, even the children who get in free.  Buy your tickets early – seating is limited!

February 23 – 25, 2007, is RETREAT WEEKEND, a time when the women of Our Savior will travel to Santa Cruz to unwind, enjoy the peace and beauty of the ocean, have fun and fellowship with other women of faith, and spend some time in worship and prayer.  If you’re looking for a break from the demands of a hectic personal and / or professional life, perhaps a weekend away is just what you need!

Connie Schramm from St. John’s Lutheran School in Orange, California, will be our guest speaker.

This year we’ll be staying at the Villa Maria del Mar retreat center.  You may view the retreat center online at www.villamariadelmar.org.  Most of the accommodations will house 2 women per room, but there are a limited number of single rooms available that will be given out on a first come, first served basis.  The cost of the weekend is $215 which pays for 2 nights lodging and 6 meals.

To reserve your spot, look for the reservation table after the service today or call Kathy Newman.

The Deadline is approaching.

SCHOOL CHAPEL  CrossRoads – Come and Journey.  You are all invited  to join us for our weekly chapel worship on Thursdays at 8:40 a.m. in the sanctuary.
