BIBLE BASIC SEMINAR

A new seminar has begun which is an interactive discussion of the main teachings of scripture.  This is a great unit for anyone considering membership at Our Savior, or someone who’s curious about what we believe, or even someone who wants to “refresh” their memory.  This event is lead by Pastor Philip Scharnitzke, and will include other facilitators as well.  Come to Room 18, Sundays through June 24, 10:15-11 a.m.

CHRISTIAN BOOK CLUB meets on Tuesday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in Room 8.  The book to be discussed will be “Captured by Grace” – No One is Beyond the Reach of a Loving God – by David Jeremiah.  ISBN 1-59145-389-5

Ever wish that you could make your offering from home or while you were on vacation?  Now you can, electronically, right from your checking or savings account.  Just go to the link on the home page of our website www.oslm.net and click where indicated.  It’s safe, easy and secure and you will get a transaction acknowledgement, also.  For tax purposes it will also show on your end-of-the-year contribution statement.  If you have any questions, please contact Joe Ryno in the church office.

VACATION BIBLE CAMP at Our Savior will take place July 9th - 13th.  The theme for this year is the "Quest for Truth."  Sessions take place from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  Children ages 3 years through 5th grade are invited to attend, and they will have fun with games, crafts, music and snacks.  A donation of $10 per camper is requested.  Registration forms are available at the church office or online at www.oslm.net.  See you there!

The Habitat for Humanity East Bay Build-a-Thon finished up and was a huge success.  A number of Lutheran churches were represented and all 8 houses went from foundation slab to the roof trusses in four short days.

A blog was started to update people on progress of the Thrivent Builds sponsored house at the Habitat East Bay building site.  You can read more about the build-a-thon and see pictures on the blog at http://hebtb.blogspot.com/

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY CAPSULE

Today has been designated by the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod as Concordia University Sunday.  Here is a prayer for this Sunday:

Lord and Savior of All,

You call us to service and challenge us to share the Gospel every day of our lives.  On this Concordia Sunday we give you unending thanks for all Concordia Colleges, Universities and Seminaries dedicated to the Great Commission.  Bless the students, teachers, faculty, staff and congregations who have dedicated time, talents and treasures to Christian education.  May they flourish and thrive.  Today we celebrate the precious gift of our own Concordia University Irvine and its commitment to train dedicated church professionals, as well as those who will serve you in fields of business, science and other professions.  May this university continue to serve You and Your Kingdom through students who bring the Gospel to the world as they learn, serve and lead.  For this and all Your good gifts, we give thanks.  Amen
