Fellowship

God helps us to grow in our faith in many ways, sometimes even using our relationships with others to strengthen our relationship with Him! Don’t miss out on any of these opportunities to have good times and make some good friends!

Senior Adults

Senior Adults meet at noon on the third Wednesday of every month in the Fireside Room. We bring a brown bag lunch, and dessert is provided. It is a time for devotion, fellowship, birthday celebrations, and games. Everyone is welcome. For more information, contact Jan Edmeyer at (925) 443-7679.

Helping Hands

Landscape “Helping Hands” takes place on Tuesday mornings, 9am-noon. Volunteers can come for the entire morning or part of the time-whenever it fits into their schedule. The volunteers take care of basics, like weeding, trimming, and other areas of work that need to be done around the OSLM campus, under the direction of the landscape contractor. If you would like to assist in taking care of God’s gracious landscape gift, please contact Nancy Mueller at 925-784-1887 or at nancyjoy@earthlink.net.

Stitches from the Heart

Stitches from the Heart is a charitable knitting, crocheting, and quilting organization that sends handmade clothing, blankets, and love to premature babies all across the nation. We at Our Savior have been participating with them for more than five years. We are encouraged to continue reaching out as we occasionally receive a letter like this.

“I am writing to thank you for the lovely hat and blanket you knitted. My son, Thomas was hospitalized in our neonatal ICU here in Frederick, MD after he was born. Your donated blanket and hat were given to him for his trip home. Thank you so much for brightening a tough time for us! Thomas is at home now and is doing wonderfully.

Sincerely, Brooke & Dave"

We always welcome new participants who would like to join in this ministry. Contact Ada Dorn at (925) 449-1205 if you are interested.

Diners’ Club

The Diners’ Club of Our Savior is a monthly gathering in the homes of members and friends over a meal with the express purpose of getting to know one another better. Every fall things get going with a sign-up time and a special kick-off dinner. It all happens on a monthly basis and goes like this:

  • Sign up for the program with Charlie or Jo Ann Swift.
  • Hosts and guests will be assigned for each month.
  • The host selects a date and calls all of the guests to confirm the date.
  • The host plans the entrée and the guests bring salad and dessert.
  • Everyone gathers to enjoy great food and fellowship!
  • Each month previous guests become hosts and vice versa.

New additions are welcome all year long! To sign up or to ask questions contact Jo Ann or Charlie Swift or the church office.

Small Group Bible Study

Small Groups consist of between 4 and 15 members who make a stronger commitment to meet with the same group of people for a period of time. A primary value to Small Groups is that there is a stronger emphasis on personal application of the word, closer fellowship within the group, and shared prayer for each other.

Groups can take many different forms. Groups can consist of older women, younger couples, older couples, and eclectic (mixed ages, sexes and marital status.) Groups can meet once a week for 4-6 months or so, or once a month for a 3-year span, or anything in between. They have an organizer, but discussion facilitating can be shared. There is no teacher as everyone learns from the insight the Holy Spirit gives to each one. All are encouraged to participate and raise personal questions or issues as moved.

These are not “drop-in” but new members may join. Some meet in homes and some meet at church. The organizer and group choose the material to be studied, with help from the Small Group Coordinator. They have employed various ways of handling childcare and of adding fellowship or service opportunities to their groups.

Currently there are groups meeting on some Fridays, Saturdays, or Sunday nights and Sunday mornings. If you are interested in knowing more about Small Group, contact the church office
